About Volunteer Advocates 2019-05-15T21:00:23+00:00

All you have to do is care; we will teach you the rest.

MHANI needs volunteer guardianship advocates! Volunteer advocates help our guardians keep in touch with their clients and ensure they are receiving the best possible care. It’s also beneficial to clients to have regular opportunities for social interaction beyond their usual circle.

  • Are you a caring individual interested in helping others?
  • Do you have life or work experience with older or disabled adults?
  • Are you at least 21 years old and have a clean criminal history?

  • Are you able to dedicate at least 2—4 hours per month to a volunteer opportunity?
  • Are you able to work closely with a court appointed guardian?

If you answered “yes” to these questions, being a guardianship advocate is the opportunity for you!

In general, as a guardianship advocate, you will be a community friend for an at-risk adult. You may assist in making life decisions with the help of the guardianship coordinator. These decisions might involve the medical, social service, and legal needs of your client.

If you are interested in becoming a guardianship advocate, please contact us at (260) 422-6441 or info@mhanortheastindiana.org for more information. You can also fill out the volunteer application form here.
